Indelague switches off the lights for Earth Hour

This Saturday 25 March, from 8.30pm to 9.30pm, the lights on the façade of Indelague – Indústria Elétrica, S.A. will go out during Earth Hour 2023, in an exemplary act representing its environmental concern.

Earth Hour is an initiative organised by the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) which encourages citizens, companies and governments to switch off their lights for one hour, thus showing their support for the fight against climate change. Switching off the lights is a symbolic gesture to raise awareness of a problem that belongs to everyone: climate change.

This is the first time that Indelague has joined this global movement that brings together hundreds of millions of people around the world to protect the planet.

This action is intended to result in a change in attitudes with a view to reducing carbon emissions in day-to-day activities.

Sustainability in Action - Green Investments and Energy Efficiency

Before that, in 2019, the Indelague Group installed 600 photovoltaic solar panels with a maximum power of 295W at its factory, with the capacity to produce 235,000 kWh of electricity per year from the sun. This installation reduces the environmental impact by avoiding the emission of 120 tonnes of CO2 per year.

In addition, all the company’s lighting is controlled by a control system that uses presence and brightness sensors to vary the intensity of the artificial light in the luminaires according to the reading of the natural light coming in, thus increasing energy savings, which is reflected in a 40% reduction in consumption per year.
